Serve the Church

The Gospel is enacted through the local church all across the world. The church is us: people who love Jesus serving others by parking cars, holding babies, to praying with others, pouring coffee, and opening their homes.

Press into God

We have all faced challenges, maybe it’s a health crisis, job loss, financial worries, a wayward child, or the death of a loved one. These challenges can break us if we don’t respond correctly. One way to face these problems and not be overwhelmed is to PRESS INTO GOD!

What does pressing into God mean? Everyday life and responsibilities are enough to cause us to become complacent when it comes to our relationship with God and when you throw in life’s problems, it can become even harder to draw near to Him. When we press in, we take those extra steps to make our faith intentional and take ownership of our spiritual lives.

The apostle Paul modeled this, especially when circumstances and life were hard. Philippians 3:12-14 – Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Pressing into God is not simply attending church or reciting prayers; it is an active pursuit of intimacy with God. It means to turn our hearts and minds to Him, seeking Him with enthusiasm and intentionality.

It is a bold choice to deepen our relationship with God through worship, prayer, and studying His Word. When we press into God, we allow ourselves to be transformed by His presence and power.

We can’t just sit back and hope our circumstances will change, we must move forward and continue to press into the things of God.  If you want God to move and change things and to see results from your prayer life, you will have to learn how to press in.

Pressing in is about being consistent in the Word of God.  It’s making the right choices, every day, putting God first, and living for Him wholeheartedly.

1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Don’t allow yourself to be moved by situations or circumstances. Continue to believe, and keep speaking the Word of God even when things in the natural world don’t look like they are changing. Learn to press in and look to God for what you need.

Mark 5:27-28 – When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”

The woman with the issue of blood is a great example. She pressed through the crowd and grabbed onto the hem of His garment and she received her healing. One of the things I love about this story is that Jesus wasn’t having a healing meeting; He was simply walking through the crowd. When she heard that Jesus healed others she was determined to be made well.  She did care what others thought of her, she didn’t let doubt in, she made up her mind and took hold of her healing.

We need to live like this!  You have to push through the stuff of this life and don’t allow things to discourage you from receiving. Now is not the time to start complaining about how hard life is.  Choose to press in, lean in, and overcome it all.  Just as Paul finished his course with joy and the woman with the issue of blood got her healing, you too can press in and receive what belongs to you.

Make up your mind today that you are going to be one of those people who will press in.  Choose to keep your mind on God and His Word, choose to press in, to chase after Him with full hearts, and trust that He will meet you in that place of surrender.

Hebrews 10:35-36 – Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
